Thursday, August 18, 2022 – A newly published study by authors at the Hortibonn group and Center for development research at Bonn University “Decision analysis of agro-climate service scaling – A case study in Dien Bien District, Vietnam” demonstrates the good value for money to invest in agro-climate services (ACS).

Ground beetles constitute an important functional component of biodiversity in agroecosystems. However, over the past few decades, there has been a marked and continuous decline of ground beetles in Europe, and many species of this insect family are threatened by intensive agricultural practices.

As a group of 11 students and 2 teachers, we made our way to EURAF 2022 (European Agroforestry Conference), which took place in Nuoro, Sardinia this year. It is springtime in Germany and our regional fruit growers suffer from the yearly worry of possible frost nights during tree blossom. There are many different methods to mitigate the damage by a frost event, for example overhead irrigation, paraffin candles or wind machines.
